Little Gasparilla Island’s Casa Contenta is a luxury Key West style home in a tropical garden setting 500 feet from the Gulf of Mexico to the west and 300 feet to Lemon Bay to the east.  The garden overflows with tropical foliage including palms, hibiscus, bird of paradise, sea grapes, bougainvillea.

The 1000 sq ft house features a split plan with 2 en-suite bedrooms and 2 baths, a fully stocked kitchen, a large screened in porch with ceiling fans, and an outdoor shower.

Hardwood floors throughout the house and sliding glass doors that open fully to the screened porch are special touches.

The main floor is perfect for relaxing with the family.  The open floor plan connects the kitchen, dining area, living room, and large screened porch.

The master bedroom (with comfy king bed and 400 count linens) also opens to the porch, with sliding glass doors that slide full back. Lay in bed and listen to the wind rustle the palms, with sounds from the Gulf in the distance.  Full bath on the main floor.

The kitchen is well-equipped with all the tools a cook could want; coffee maker (drip, French press, coffee grinder, and an Italian moke), pots, pans, dishes, glasses, bakeware, blender, popcorn machine, even an ice cream maker. A quiet Bosch dishwasher is there to make cleanup quick and easy.

We have a full washer and dryer for your usage and we supply the environmentally friendly detergent.

Upstairs, is a second bedroom with comfortable queen bed and full bath tucked under the cathedral ceiling.  With decks facing east and west, you can open the doors for a cross breeze; watch the sun rise over the bay; sunbathe in the afternoon and star gaze at night.

Downstairs is a propane gas grill, lots of beach and bay toys (chairs, coolers, inflatable kayaks, umbrellas, etc.) and a private outdoor shower!

And, as long as our golf cart “jelly belly” is running you may use it to roam the island sand paths.

Don Pedro Island State Park

Welcome to Don Pedro Island State Park

Beautiful Don Pedro Island State Park is part of an extensive chain of barrier islands extending along Florida’s Gulf Coast. Between Knight Island and Little Gasparilla Island, Don Pedro is accessible only by private boat or ferry. Boaters can tie up at the dock on the mangrove-lined bay side of the island. Access the dock via the channel south of the Cape Haze power line crossing, but be sure to idle, as the channel is only 2.5 feet deep.

Keep your eyes peeled for endangered species such as West Indian manatees, gopher tortoises, bald eagles and American oystercatchers. With one mile of white sandy beach, enjoy sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling and shelling on Don Pedro’s Gulf side. Boat and surf fishing are other favorite pastimes of visitors to the 230-acre park. Hikers and nature lovers can explore trails of the park’s land base portion on the Cape Haze Peninsula. The 100-acre land base also offers a fishing dock, kayak launch, nature trails and a picnic shelter.
